Microarray Hybridization Services

Ocimum Hybridization Services offer an easy and affordable way towards good, reproducible microarray results.

Depending on the amount of starting material (total RNA) and expected yield, we can provide labeling strategies with or without amplification step(s). Direct labeling (reverse transcription using oligo d(T) (eukaryotes) or random hexamer primers (prokaryotes)) and incorporating Cy-dye labeled dCTP is the simplest way of creating probes for hybridization, but requires 100 micrograms of total RNA for most organisms (50 micrograms for bacteria).

Most of the times the amount of starting material will be limited. We offer labeling strategies including linear amplification using the AmpTec ExpressArt® kits. These kits are optimized to give the best possible yield of Cy-dye labeled cRNA, minimizing any amplification-related bias.

Depending on the amount of starting total RNA, there are several versions of the kit available: Micro (1 round of amplification, 1 microgram total RNA), Nano (2 rounds of amplification, 100 ng total RNA), and Pico (3 rounds of amplification, < 1 ng total RNA).

All hybridizations on Ocimum's line of OciChip™ arrays can be performed as single (Cy3) or dual channel (Cy3 vs Cy5) hybridizations.

Please send us your hybridized OciChip™. We will scan and analyze them for you.
