The World’s Most Experienced Commercial Microarray Facility just got bigger

The World’s Most Experienced Commercial Microarray Facility just got biggerAt Ocimum, we believe that your needs have always defined our priorities. Our growth plan and strategy has been envisioned to cater to changing and growing needs of the research community. We are indebted to our growing list of global customers, who have trusted us over the years, referred us as partners in their R&D efforts. Majority of them return to us and have chosen us as their long term outsourcing partner for their ongoing programs. This has helped us continuously expand our portfolio and offer unique range of integrated solutions.

As genomics driven discovery is at an inflection point, your opinions count more than ever for us!

We have been a key innovator and one of the earliest industry adopters of genomic technologies, knowledge databases, and discovery platforms since the early 90’s and continue to do so in the changing face of genomics. Following are the key initiatives we have taken up to enhance value for our customers.

In line with its strategic objective to build a global network of service centers in close proximity to leading genomics researchers, we have launched genomic services on Affymetrix platform from Europe. Initially Ocimum will service Gene Expression studies on the Affymetrix platform from its facility at IJsselstein, The Netherlands. Within a couple of months, it will launch the entire bouquet of services from its IJsselstein facility.

We have also expanded our range of service offerings with the purchase of an Illumina iScan system. The system will be used with the recently released high density Infinium HD assays, Illumina’s most advanced assays, as well as their whole genome expression and methylation technologies. This technology provides clients with another option for GWAS and determination of chromosomal Copy Number Variation in DNA samples.

In the toxicology front, we have signed a partnership agreement for systems toxicology collaboration with Genstruct Inc. Genstruct is a systems biology company focused on identifying molecular mechanisms, networks and biomarkers to better develop novel therapeutics, molecular diagnostics and patient-specific therapies. As part of this collaboration, we will provide our extensive toxicology databases and data on specific compounds obtained by our gene expression technology for pre-clinical and clinical research to clients from the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, consumer products and related industries.

We have also entered into collaboration with NuGEN for using Ovation® Systems for sample preparation. This partnership enables researchers in India, for the first time, to conduct gene expression profiling from a wide range of clinically relevant sample types, such as small, compromised, or formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues.

We have partnered with Clarmon Corporation to distribute, implement and support its Compliance Management Solution, QAvalid™. Ocimum Biosolutions’ extensive knowledge of Computer Systems Validation requirements and processes as well as its extensive understanding of pharmaceutical and biotechnology laboratories combined with Clarmon's unique solution, QAvalid™, creates a valuable partnership for regulated industries seeking effective and efficient validation solutions for their laboratory systems.

ASCENTA® 3.2

Ocimum Biosolutions has announced the release of ASCENTA 3.2, the latest version of its web-based biomarker discovery and validation tool. ASCENTA 3.2 release now supports Match/X™ functionality, allowing users to identify genes represented on the Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 array which either share a similar pattern of differential expression with a user-specified input gene, or which show an inverse pattern of regulation relative to that gene of interest. The various pre-configured pair-wise sample set comparisons upon which Match/X analyses are based are listed in the appropriate Content Summary and Differences Report documents.

As of this product release, data export files generated from Diff/X™, Match/X™ and Gene/X™ reports have been updated to include the names of all pathways to which listed genes have been mapped, the Gene Ontology identifiers associated with each listed gene, and the gene family assignments for each gene included in the report being exported. This information, which was previously only available on a gene by gene basis via individual gene reports, has been included in data exports in order to provide our users with greater access to important biological context for lists of genes generated within the system. These same annotations have also been added to e-Northern® data exports.

Biotracker™ - The LIMS for Life Sciences Research
Ocimum Biosolutions has announced the imminent release of Biotracker™ 4.2, R&D Life Science LIMS. Until now, Biotracker was customized to suit the workflow requirements of different types of laboratories, such as biobanking, gene expression, genotyping, sequencing, etc. This latest version of Biotracker is a consolidated system, which supports various workflows used in different life science labs. This version also comes with pre-defined workflow templates for standard processes such as Agilent Gene Expression workflow.

In Biotracker 4.2, users can access the database as well as methods using web service enabled Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Biotracker also includes many enhancements that significantly improve searching, reporting, auditing, processing, and usability. Biotracker 4.2 now supports generation, tracking and maintenance of contract agreement, order and shipment related documents. Hierarchical accessioning of Specimen information at different levels is also now possible using batch file upload.

Apart from this, integrated genomics work flow is supported in Biotracker 4.2, which includes support for Agilent and Affymetrix gene expression platforms as well as genotyping platforms like rtPCR, Taqman, RFLP, and sequencing. Biotracker also now supports different sequencing platforms with PHRED, PHRAP and POLYPHRED integration for down stream analysis.

Highlights of Biotracker 4.2:
  • Web service enabled APIs, to access various Biotracker features
  • Hierarchical accessioning of specimen information at donor, sample and derivative level
  • Supports order and shipment related documents
  • PHRED, PHRAP and POLYPHRED integration for downstream analysis
  • On the fly master-mix calculations at test/run execution level
  • Provision for conflict resolution after looking at genotyping call
  • Complete QC as well quadrant QC for plates
  • Single click data capture from instruments
