Ocimum Biosolutions' Biotracker™ software application has achieved GeneChip-compatible™ status with the Affymetrix Inc. (Nasdaq: AFFX) GeneChip® microarray platform and shall also participate in the Affymetrix GeneChip-compatible™ Applications Program, which provides customers with a broad spectrum of software solutions for biomedical research and development. As a GeneChip-compatible software provider, Ocimum is committed to seamlessly integrating its Biotracker™ with the Affymetrix GeneChip platform. More...

In April 2004, the third mammalian complete genome sequence was published for rat (Rattus norvegicus) by the Rat Genome Sequencing Project Consortium at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, USA (Gibbs et al, Genome Sequence of the Brown Norway Rat Yields Insights into Mammalian Evolution, Nature 428: 493-521, 2004). It provides clearer understanding of exon and intron structure and alternative splicing of genes. The success of MWG Biotech's Rat 10K Array propelled Ocimum to design a whole genome rat array based on this data. The rat model is an indispensable tool in experimental medicine and drug development, and the availability of this array will accelerate corresponding research. More...

Ocimum Biosolutions now distributes various ExpressArt® kits, thus enabling many new applications starting with limited amount of RNA samples or RNA samples of challenging qualities. This starts with expression profiling in array technologies and also includes qPCR and generation of cDNA libraries. By design, the kits are suitable for high throughput automation. More...

Did you know with its range of Catalog and Custom OciChip™ arrays, Ocimum Biosolutions offers one of the biggest microarray portfolios in the market.

In addition to microarrays, Ocimum offers spotting services for all kinds of biological samples: DNA, RNA, proteins, or peptides, which can be distributed on a variety of substrates and surface chemistries. Ocimum’s microarray laboratory team is experienced in using different spotting buffers and can customize projects from low to very high density spotting. More...
Did you know Ocimum Biosolutions’ range of microarray products includes two different hybridization buffers. The formamide-based buffer (Catalog no. 1180-000010) follows a standard recipe and is optimized for low-volume hybridizations using cover slips. The salt-based hybridization buffer (Catalog no. 1180-200000) is specifically developed to allow higher-volume hybridizations such as, with GeneFrame provided with any OciChip™ or automated hybridization chambers. Higher-volume hybridizations offer the advantage of even distribution of signals and therefore, improved performance. More...

Latest Updates
Ocimum's Bioinformatics team conquered the challenge of updating the GeneID files for major OciChip™ arrays, where new annotation data was available in public databases. This includes Human 30K A, B and C OciChip™ arrays, the Rat 10K OciChip™ and the Zebrafish 14K OciChip™ arrays. The new Gene ID files are now available for download.

In the light of ever changing genomic data by constantly finding new splice variants, Ocimum will update the annotations of all higher eukaryotic organism arrays regularly.
