OligoStar™: Oligo Design Tool

As DNA microarrays emerge as the fundamental technology for post-genome research, the need for a fast, efficient, large-scale probe design tool is of great importance to the scientific community across the globe.

Introducing OligoStar™, a oligo design software from Ocimum Biosolutions, that uses a proprietary knowledge-based algorithm to select probe candidates from desired gene sequences. The tool offers custom probe designs based on data provided by customer as well as from our own pre-designed genome sets. Being a multi-step probe selection process, the software provides greater flexibility in selecting probes by applying filter criterion at each step.

To enhance speed and performance, the unique proprietary algorithm screens the entire gene sequence by masking avoidable regions on the sequence (low complexity, based on the BLAST results) before screening the candidates for various physical parameters.
